Katina R. Beard, MSPH
Chief Executive Officer
Katina began her career at Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center in 1996. Since this time, she has held successive roles as interim CEO and now CEO. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and Planning from Tennessee State University her Masters of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College.
In addition to overseeing strategy and operations at Matthew Walker, Katina also sits on a number of advisory boards including the American Cancer Society Nashville Advisory Board, Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee and the Tennessee Primary Care Association Governing Board.
In her free time, Katina enjoys volunteering with her church, serving as a Girl Scout leader and hanging out with her husband and two children.
Director of Human Resources
Robin joined Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center in 2007 after a career in the private sector with AETNA overseeing quality improvement. She became Director of Human Resources at Matthew Walker in 2009. Robin holds a BS in mass communications from Middle Tennessee State University and an MS in healthcare administration from University of Saint Francis in Joliet, IL.
Tera Hambrick, JD
General Counsel & Director of Regulatory Affairs
Tera is responsible for oversight of general corporate and healthcare compliance, The Joint Commission accreditation, and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, she practiced privately as an attorney with the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, LLP. Tera received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Psychology from Fisk University. She later obtained her Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University Law School.
In addition to her work with Matthew Walker, Tera has served on the boards of multiple non-profit organizations, including Entrepreneur Guidance and Training, Inc. (“EGT”), a non-profit corporation that provides classroom instruction, consultation, and micro-loans to low and moderate income individuals pursuing entrepreneurship and job placement assistance. She currently serves as a member of the advisory council and development committee for the Tennessee Justice Center, a non-profit law firm providing free legal services to vulnerable persons to ensure Tennessee families have access to the health care they need.
Tera enjoys mentoring inner-city high school students regarding higher education and career options as well as law school students and newly practicing attorneys.
Angela Ross, DDS
Dr. Ross holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University of Indiana and a DDS degree from Meharry Medical College. Dr. Ross enjoys serving the underserved and under insured – which is evident by her dental care provided to inmates in Tennessee’s correctional facilities. Throughout her career Dr. Ross has provided dental care through a mobile dental clinic, in-school children sealant programs, and through her own dental practice. She also contributed to the “Oral Health Hygiene Performance Test” Publication.
Chief Financial Officer
Melanie joined Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center in mid-2018 as Finance Manager before becoming the Chief Financial Officer late 2019. Before coming to Nashville from Chicagoland, she acquired over nine years of Federally Qualified Health Center experience at clinics in Illinois and Northwest Indiana. Prior to switching career paths, she owned a successful tax and financial services practice. She earned her BS in Accounting from Valparaiso University.
Melanie has two adult daughters, two grandchildren and two cats. In her spare time, she enjoys taking multi media art classes and following Drum Corps International.
Ida Michele Williams, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Williams has been with Matthew Walker, first as a pediatrician and later as the organization’s medical director, since 2002. She received her BS in mathematics from Vanderbilt University and her MD from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where she completed her residency in pediatrics. Dr. Williams continues to provide care for Matthew Walker patients in addition to her duties as CMO.
When she isn’t caring for patients and overseeing clinical operations, Dr. Williams enjoys spending time with her two children and husband along with gardening, coaching basketball and cooking.
Sandra Long Weaver, chair of the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center governing board, is a journalist and advisor to The Meter, the student newspaper at Tennessee State University. She is a founding member of the National Association of Black Journalists and is serving her second three-year term on the MWCHC board. She is married and has two adult children and three grandchildren.
Dr. Antoine Able
Dr. Antoine Able is in the third year of a second term as a MWCHC board member. He serves as chair of the Quality Assurance Committee and has also served of chair of the board. He is a native of Memphis and attended University of Tennessee/Knoxville, Tennessee State University and Meharry Medical College. He served as Associate Medical Director of the Spinal Cord Injury Service at Audie Murphy VA hospital before joining faculty at Meharry as an Associate Professor where he worked to introduce students, residents and colleagues to the field of PM&R while providing badly needed rehabilitation services to an under-served population. He is now Tennessee Regional Medical Director for U.S. Physiatry and Medical Director at Tri-Star Southern Hills Rehabilitation Center.
Jerron Barnes, Treasury of the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center governing board, is a Certified Public Accountant and the President of Barnes Financial Services, Inc. He is also an Investment Advisor Representative and is serving his second three-year term on the MWCHC board. He is married and has one son.
Marvin S. Evans, Jr.
Marvin S. Evans, Jr., Secretary of the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center governing board is an engineer and Project Management Professional. Currently he is the Director of the Project Management Office supporting the Tennessee Department of Health. He is a founding member of the Tennessee State University Alumni Association where he has held several offices over the years.
James Halford, Jr.
James Halford, Jr., board member, currently serves as Chief of Staff and Administration to Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and the City of Clarksville. He is the retired former Director of Strategic Planning at Fort Campbell. He is currently serving his third three-year term on the MWCHC board after having served previously as Treasurer and Board Chair. Halford is married with two adult children and five grandchildren.
Nile Harris, Vice Chair of the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center governing board, is a consultant, coach, and speaker with over 20 years of experience in financial services, health care, and K12 education. She is an expert advisor at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center and a Young Leaders Council of Nashville alumna. Nile is currently in her third year of her first term on the MWCHC board.
Cheryl Jones, member of the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center governing board, is a Treasury Management Sales Officer with the Bank of Tennessee. She brings more than 20 years of experience in banking and corporate treasury, forecasting, risk assessment, corporate regulatory compliance, accounting analysis, and capital markets to Bank of Tennessee in support of its mission to assist in the growth of Nashville’s thriving business community. She has Three siblings, two nieces, four great nephews, one great niece, and one great great nephew.
Theodore Jones, III
Theodore Jones III, MBA, originally from Saint Louis, MO. Graduate of Fontbonne University with a Master in Business Administration, and lived in the Nashville area for close to 10 years. I have an ERP IT background, a former election campaign manager in Rutherford county, and a business numbers enthusiast. I have served Matthew Walker as a board member since 2016, and recently two terms as the board Treasurer/Finance Chair.
Sharon Langford, board member at Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center. She serves as chair of the Personnel Committee, member of the Finance Committee as well as the Fund-Raising Committee and the Executive Committee. Currently at the beginning of year two on the MWCHC board. She is a retired IRS worker and married with two adult children and three grandchildren.
Corey McMahan, Board Member of the Matthew Walker Health Center works as a Information Security Professional for HCA Healthcare. Corey is a member of the Middle Tennessee Association of Certified Fraud examiners (MTACFE). Being a Nashville native Corey enjoys spending time in the city with his fiancé and daughter.
Alexandria Murphy began her first term on the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center governing board in February 2020. She is a healthcare attorney at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC and concentrates her legal practice on data privacy and security issues. She moved from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to make Nashville her home approximately one year ago when her significant other was stationed at a nearby U.S. Army base.
Nicole M. Rowan
Nicole M. Rowan is the President and Founder of Press Play On Your Purpose Executive Coaching and Consulting. She has more than 10 years of executive nonprofit leadership experience. She is the chief creative officer of Rowan’s Way Aromatherapy. Nicole is an avid community advocate for underserved and disadvantaged populations. She is in administrative leadership at Global Outreach Community Development Corporation. She is a licensed and ordained a minister. She is a wife and a mother.
Jeff Teague, chair-elect of the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, is Senior Advisor and Communications Director to Congressman Jim Cooper. Before joining Congressman Cooper’s staff, he was President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee for 17 years. Prior to that he lived in Washington, DC and worked in the White House as Director of Public Liaison for Vice President Al Gore. He also served as Deputy Director of Communications at the US Agency for International Development. His career also includes working on the national office staff of four Presidential campaigns.
Sharon Travis, Outreach and Advocacy Specialist at the Sexual Assault Center, provides leadership for black outreach, is a dedicated mentor and case manager who is committed to systemic change. She is serving her first term on the board of Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center.
Tanya Washington, a 2020 addition to the board, is a training specialist and executive coach for the Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership at the University of Tennessee’s Institute for Public Service.
A member of the Junior League of Nashville and graduate of the Young Leaders Council, she is also a two-time graduate of Tennessee State University. Mrs. Washington is a Nashville native and lives in the area with her husband and their four children.
