Registered Dental Assistant

Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center has an exciting opportunity available for a skilled, resourceful and motivated individual who would like to make a difference in the lives of others in helping a non-for-profit organization fulfill its mission to provide quality health care. Reporting to the Dental Coordinator, the Dental Assistant (DA) will be responsible for providing the following to include, but not limited to:

  • Assist dentist with dental procedures as needed
  • Promote treatment plans and encourage patients to begin treatment
  • Maintain a clean and organized operatory at all times
  • Prepare impressions and/or models for removable prosthetics

The DA is expected to possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.  Acute attention to detail and in-depth knowledge of general dental terminology is required.   One year of employment as a dental assistant is preferred.   

High school diploma is required including registration with the Tennessee Board of Dentistry. Additionally, proof of continuing dental education from Tennessee Board of Dentistry required. Candidates must have a valid CPR certification, which must be maintained throughout employment.

  • Checking patients in and discharging patients
  • Working error reports
  • Appointment scheduling

The PBR must possess the ability to work efficiently and effectively with all levels of the organization, particularly patients from varying economic backgrounds. The individual must have documented evidence of the ability to advise, consult and counsel with patients concerning account balances. Experience in cash handling, Medicare, TennCare and third party billing is required. Ability to speak fluently in Spanish is preferred.

Outreach & Enrollment Specialist (Clarksville, TN)

Reporting to the Community Outreach Coordinator, the Outreach and Enrollment Specialist for the Clarksville, TN site will work to provide outreach opportunities for Clarksville, Nashville and surrounding area residents which include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Provide enrollment assistance (including but not limited to completing coverage applications, gathering required documentation and troubleshooting the enrollment process) for uninsured children and adults to access subsidized, low-cost and free health insurance programs through the health insurance marketplace, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Provide structured patient education on health coverage, engage in follow-up conversations and offer renewal assistance for enrolled individuals.
  • Distribute outreach materials to patients, community members, partner organizations and businesses to build coverage option awareness.
  • Host or participate in community-wide education and enrollment events/activities.
  • Develop, discover and attend community events in order to promote coverage options and the mission and services of the organization.
  • Collaborate with various local organizations to build awareness of coverage options, spur enrollment and build referral linkages.
  • Attend and successfully complete all required training programs; participate in ongoing conference calls, webinars, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Accurately provide required reporting to track goal achievement and client satisfaction.
  • Recruit and utilize volunteers to increase program capacity.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of organizational outreach and enrollment initiatives.

Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Health Promotions/Outreach, Health Education, health administration or related field, with a minimum of one (1) year of community-based recruitment experience is required. Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking) applicants preferred.

Registered Nurse Site Coordinator (Clarksville, TN)

Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) Site Coordinator or the Clarksville, TN site will be responsible for the supervision and professional development of the clinical support which include, but is not limited to the following operational functions:

  • Assists the Clinical Nurse Manager with developing a written philosophy and objectives for the Nursing Department which are compatible with the mission of the health care facility; communicates and interprets the philosophy and objectives and processes of implementation to administration, the medical staff, and others, as appropriate
  • Along with the Clinical Nurse Manager, develop Nursing Services Policies and Procedures, which focus on the care of patients and favor good, safe, quality care
  • Participate in the procedures for hiring, supervising, training and evaluating the clinical support staff and ensuring staff is meeting performance expectations, complying with departmental and organizational policies and procedures and correcting poor performance when needed
  • Responsible for creating the clinical support staff schedule that promotes the maximum utilization of all clinical support staff
  • Develop and maintain an effective system for the maintenance of nursing records, monthly/annual reports/audits to assure the provision of good quality health care
  • Work with clinical support staff in conjunction with providers, operations staff and other patient care disciplines, to develop programs for total patient care
  • Support the physician and other providers in delivering quality health care to ambulatory patients and perform a variety of nursing related tasks to promote continuity of care
  • Participate in and promote membership in the activities of professional nursing associations, allied health organizations and supportive community activities, and work at Health Fairs
  • Participate in CQI and Joint Commission committees to ensure compliance with clinical policies and procedures and standards
  • Responsible for the maintenance of patient confidentiality and adherence to Patient Rights and Responsibilities as issued in the New Hire Orientation

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited RN program
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure within the state of Tennessee is required, and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
  • 2-5 years of supervisory and hospital experience, required
  • 2 years of experience working in a community health clinic, preferred
